Mahalaya is the auspicious start of the seven-day period before Durga Puja. The day essentially heralds the homecoming of the goddess and also signifi es the end of ‘Pitru Paksha’, which is essentially a period when Hindus offer homage to their deceased ancestors.

Devotional songs, prayers and recitation of Hindu scriptures often mark the celebration of Mahalaya across the country, but regardless of how it is celebrated, the occasion brings with it much enthusiasm and excitement. And it was this positive spirit that made its way into the New Town-Rajarhat, Kolkata campus of Candor TechSpace when it celebrated Mahalaya in an event organised on 10th October 2018.

The campus wore a festive look as it was decorated with colourful cut-outs, festoons and lights. Aiming to provide an interactive platform to the employees of occupiers, the event saw people lining up in droves to participate in the series of engagement activities and games planned for the day. An innovative selfi e counter was erected, and a stage was set up to allow attendees to see a mirror act as well as performances including those by Spice Dance Troupe.

The attendees involved themselves in playing exciting games like Sumo Fighter, Dice on the Floor and 7 Up & 7 Down. They also had a gala time participating in dance and singing competitions and a dandiya dance where they performed to catchy songs belted out by a live band from Allinez.
